Notice of meeting:
Date: Wednesday 17 June 7:30pm
Venue: Newry Arts Centre.

The Newry branch of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland will be presenting a slide show entitled ARMCHAIR NAVVIES.

This will highlight the voluntary conservation work done on the locks by our members last winter. We invite you to attend and see for yourself what can be achieved by a relatively small number of determined people working on a project that means a lot to them.

I remember during the war an evacuee from Belfast a little blond haired girl of about 7 or 8 yrs old Idont remember her name, anyway she clombed up on the bridge wall at Moodys and fell into the canal and drowned. Her body was laid out on a table in the Orange hall dressed in a yellow corduroy dress.I think the family lived in Atchesons on William St.
