Hello, My g.grandparents Charles PORTER b.1835 Armagh and Eliza Jane FINCH b.1837 Armagh, were married at Drumbanagher early 1858. Imediately after they sailed for Australia. His parents are recorded in Aus. as James PORTER farmer and Rose PORTER. A kind person found a death for a James PORTER of ENagh, Mullaglass Newry in January 1867 and a Rose PORTER (farmer's wife) death August 1866 at TULLY---IM?
I am really struggling to find out about James and Rose and as you can see also have trouble with the geography of the area.
I would love to hear from anyone with suggestions here and even if not specifically about James and Rose, would appreciate if someone could explain to me about the relationship of Poyntzpass, Enagh and Drumbanagher, such as distance apart etc. I think the only church with available records is the Drumbanagher C. of I. where the marriageof Charles and Eliza Jane took place. I do not even have any record of Charles or Eliza Janes's births and have only the information on their Australian records. thanking you regards Margaret Brookes (Melbourne, Aus.) |

In terms of geographical position, have you tried finding Poyntzpass and Drumbanagher using GoogleEarth?
You can also browse the area using ordnance and survey maps https://maps.osni.gov.uk/login.aspx

George Porter and his sister Mabel ran a shop and postoffice in Jerretspass until a few years ago thats about two miles from Drumbanagher.George never married and Mabel married George Woods of Eleven Lane ends Poyntzpass all are now deceased.Willie |

There was a Harry Finch had a family in Drumbanagher years ago but I dont know if any family still live there |
